Author, Perfecter:
Learning to Live God's Story Instead of Writing My Own
My debut memoir is a spiritual journey of surviving adolescent trauma, turning my back on God, and eventually finding my way back to the beauty of His authorship. This is a literary memoir in every sense of the word, with an “upmarket” voice, an extended metaphor of my life as a narrative work, and a plethora of literary references for the bibliophiles among us. The story is unflinchingly honest about the most painful parts of my life, yet always offset by both humor and hope. When readers finish the book, they will look at both their own lives and the lives of those around them with a fresh perspective, considering what kind of hero or heroine they are, what kind of story they are living, and who is writing that story.
In these chaotic times where all of us are living 75-mile-an-hour lives and can’t find time to just sit and chat with each other as much as we might like to, my Substack, "Jesus, Take the Smartphone," is my virtual offering to sit and chat. Would you like to get together and have a deep, rich conversation over coffee? Me too! Sadly, it feels impossible to do that sometimes, so my Substack posts are my coffee shop conversations. And the beauty of it is that you can join the conversation, with your favorite beverage, whenever you are available to do so.
Common topics of discussion include faith, mental health, technology, parenting and relationships, Indigenous issues, biblical studies, and pop culture.
